Faced with the impossibility of celebrating Easter with the traditional Procession of Hallelujah and the usual program of the Feast of Torches, São Brás de Alportel, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel will mark the date with the artistic installation of a large Torch,with more than 200 kilos that will be exhibited in Largo de São Sebastião from Easter Sunday, April 4.
The exhibition of this installation is part of the program "Together we celebrate Easter at Home – united by heart and tradition" which includes the Eucharistic celebration with online broadcast, a documentary exhibition and various physical and digital exhibitions. Also in progress, until April 4, is the 12th Gastronomic Fortnight, with a special take-away edition and home.
The structure of the Tribute Torch was built using existing iron materials in the county's workshops. it will be decorated with 134 flower pots and complemented with country flowers allocated to the Feast of The Flowertorches, carrying a candle at the top of the torch.
This artistic installation was produced by the locksmith team, with the support of the carpentry, painting, masons, stone masons and electricity sectors. The design and decoration are authored by Sónia Martins, the Municipal Tourism Office, the project fell to councilman Acacio Martins and also had the support of the Communication Office, the Offices of sport and culture among other municipal collaborators.
This piece of collective art aims to mark this time very caryby by the St. Brasenses, pay homage to the St. Brasenses who have always given voice and hands to this tradition and remember the poet Bernardo de Passos, who inspires his land.
On Easter Sunday, April 4, the program begins at 10:30 am, when the Parish of São Brás de Alportel celebrates the Eucharist of resurrection in a mass with limited places and with online transmission through the social networks of the municipality.
The parish priest will pass through the streets where the Procession of Hallelujah usually passed, and all community are invited to take their torches and bedspreads to the windows and balconies to proclaim the chorus: "Risen as he said: Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah".
The digital exhibition "Digital Photography Chest" will be published on the Facebook of the Municipality and the Sambrasense Cultural Association during Easter Sunday. Exhibition that will still be patent in physical format in the lobby of the Municipal Library between 5 and 17 April. Also in the lobby of the Municipal Library will be exhibited, in the same period, the winning works of the contest of "Floral Games 2021", an initiative that was usually made known on the afternoon of Easter Sunday, when the winners read their courts inspired by the Pascal traditions are-brasenses.
In the lobby of Cinema São Brás will present the exhibition "Festa das Torches – Procession of Hallelujah" until April 31.
The Feast of The Torches is usually organized in partnership by the Parish of São Brás de Alportel, the Sambrasense Cultural Association and the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel.
